« Back to Glossary Index

Bingbot” is the web crawler or bot used by Bing, Microsoft’s search engine, to discover, index, and rank websites and their content for inclusion in Bing’s search results. Bingbot is designed to crawl the web and collect information about pages, including the text, images, videos, and links on a page, to create a comprehensive and up-to-date index of the web for Bing. The information collected by Bingbot is used to determine the relevance and quality of a website’s content for specific search queries and to rank the website in Bing’s search results. Bingbot operates similarly to other search engine bots, such as Googlebot, and website owners can use tools such as Bing Webmaster Tools to monitor and optimize their website’s performance on Bing search.
