Definition: Crawlability

« Back to Glossary Index

Crawlability” refers to the ability of search engine crawlers to effectively access, crawl, and index the pages on a website. Good crawlability means that search engines can easily access and understand the structure and content of a site, which is important for improving a site’s visibility and ranking in search results.

To improve crawlability, website owners should ensure that their sites have a clear and logical structure, with well-organized URLs, and minimal barriers to crawling, such as broken links or redirects. It’s also important to use sitemaps and robots.txt files to help search engines understand which pages on a site are important and which ones should not be crawled.
