Definition: Header Tags

« Back to Glossary Index

Header tags, also known as HTML heading tags, are a series of HTML tags used to structure and format text content on a web page. There are six different header tags, ranging from H1 to H6, with H1 being the most important and H6 the least. Each header tag creates a heading of a different font size and weight, making it easy to distinguish between different levels of headings in a web page’s content. The headings created by header tags not only help to make the content more readable and organized but also play a role in search engine optimization, as they help search engines understand the hierarchy and structure of the content on a page.
