“Alt text” (alternative text), also known as “alt attribute” or “alt description,” is a HTML attribute used to provide a text description for an image on a web page. Alt text is used to provide a description of an image for users who are unable to see the image, either because the image is not loaded or because the user is using a screen reader. Screen readers use alt text to describe images to users who are visually impaired. In addition, alt text can also provide context and meaning to an image, making it easier for search engines to understand the content of a web page. When writing alt text, it is important to keep it concise, descriptive, and relevant to the image.
