Definition: Article Spinning

« Back to Glossary Index

Article spinning” is a technique used to create multiple variations of a single piece of content, usually for the purpose of increasing its potential to rank in search engines or to avoid duplicate content penalties. This is done by automatically or manually changing words, phrases, sentences, or even paragraphs in the original article to create new, unique versions of the content. Article spinning is often considered unethical and is generally frowned upon by search engines, as it creates low-quality, poorly written, and often unreadable content that provides little value to users. In addition, using spun content can result in penalties from search engines, which may result in a decrease in search engine visibility and rankings. It is generally recommended to avoid article spinning and to create high-quality, original content that provides value to users.
