Definition: Reconsideration request

« Back to Glossary Index

A reconsideration request is a request made to a search engine, such as Google, to reconsider a website that has been penalized or banned for violating the search engine’s guidelines. The request is made by the website owner and includes an explanation of why the website should be reinstated and any steps that have been taken to remedy the issues that led to the penalization. The search engine will then review the website and the reconsideration request, and may choose to lift the penalty or ban if it determines that the website is now in compliance with its guidelines. Making a reconsideration request is an important step for website owners to take if their site has been penalized, as it can help restore the site’s visibility and ranking in search results
